Rod Phillips celebrates San Claudio II Vino Nobile di Montepulciano writing a great note during tasting and assigning  93/100 to the 2020 vintage.

“This delicious, full-flavoured wine is a blend of 80% sangiovese, 10% canaiolo, and 5% mammolo. It was matured 6 months in stainless steel, 24 months in large oak barrels, and 3 months in bottle before being released for sale. There’s real depth and breadth in the well layered flavour profile, where dark fruit takes the lead, nuanced with spiciness. The acidity is tailored to the fruit, and the tannins are slightly grippy. It’s an impressive wine that you can drink now or hold to the late 2020s.”
